The Eighth Wonder of the World Is to Be – The Wall of the World

/Watch video/

The Wall of the World is a magnificent 47-hectare park with 272 granite walls on which the personal details of 1% of the world’s population will be engraved. In this way the Wall of the World will be the greatest ever man made evidence of the existence and unity of humankind.

You can submit your data for engraving by registering on www.walloftheworld.org

The Wall of the World will earn the right to be called the eighth wonder of the world, because every individual registered on the website will in effect cast a vote for the Wall of the World to be recognized as such. By the vote of 65 million people the Wall of the World will legitimately acquire the status of the eighth wonder of the world.

The Walls

/Watch video/

The Wall of the World will consist of 272 granite walls, each 3.5 meters high and 0.5 meters thick. They will stretch in length from 1 to 182 meters and their total length will reach 26 km.

The granite walls will display the details of 65 million people from across the world - their name, family name, birth date and place.

The walls will be constructed in granite clad concrete and rest on a deep foundation to ensure longevity. To guarantee good visibility, the walls will have architectural lighting round the clock.

The Park

/Watch video/

The total area of the park is 47 hectares and will be split into eight main sections containing the walls. The park’s territory will also include a parking area, a viewing platform, a helicopter pad and a central isle in a lake.

The parking area will face the park’s main entrance. The main gate, which is to be made of glass and normally shut, will be unlocked for special occasions and events. The entrances and the administrative building will be located on the right side of the gate where the visitors can register and find out in which section the person’s data they are looking for are engraved.

On leaving the entry hall the visitors will find themselves on a main walkway leading to the central feature – an isle with the globe. The park will have seven 20 meters wide main walkways and an encircling path around it, all paved with cobblestones. The walkways will start at the boundaries of the park, which feature massive sculptures, and converge on a central point – the globe. The walkways will be lined with benches, for rest, and fountains. Each walkway will lead to a bridge, which takes the visitors across the lake to the isle – the focal point of the park with the globe in its centre.

In the rear of the isle a nine-meter high waterfall will be constructed.

The Globe

/Watch video/

The globe will be placed on a nine meters high isle in the heart of the park. The globe, made of metal and supporting materials, will measure 35 meters in diameter, which is equivalent to the height of a 10-storey building. Its surface will mimic the look of the real globe with continents, islands and water expanses. Surrounded by water, flowers and decorative shrubs, the globe will revolve on its axis.

The Viewing Platform

/Watch video/

This 30 meter high construction will serve as a panoramic viewing platform and a cafe for the park visitors. A magnificent view of the park’s territory and the picturesque surrounding nature will open up from the top floor. The size of the platform on the top floor is 3900 m2.

The Giant Stone Sculptures

/Watch video/

At the park’s outer boundaries, each of the seven main walkway feature a five meter high and wide boulder, with chiselled reliefs, depicting the seven wonders of the ancient world. In this way the Wall of the World refers to the seven wonders of the ancient world.

The Car Park

/Watch video/

3.6 hectares of land are set aside for a car park at the start of the park. If necessary this area will be used for auxiliary buildings and other facilities such as hotels.

Relaxation and Entertainment

The Wall of the World is conceived as a monument symbolising the power of human unity and not as an entertainment park. Therefore you will not find entertainment facilities in the park’s inner territory. However, in the park’s outer territory, right next to the park, there will be several opportunities for entertainment: the viewing tower will house a restaurant and cafe; part of the car park will be leased to companies providing public catering services, recreation opportunities and possibly accommodation.

Facilities for the Family with Children

If you have children, you may wish to bring them to the Wall of the World park to show them the wonder you have helped to make possible. You will be pleased to know that there will be a public building complex located by the park, which will house children’s rooms with playgrounds. These rooms will be attended to by qualified child minders, so that your children can enjoy themselves in safety, while you go and enjoy all that the park has to offer.

Facilities for People with Special Needs

All people are equal irrespective of their abilities or disabilities. When designing and building the park the needs of people with special needs will be catered for. Without going into all the details, the most important things to be mention are: all stairs will have ramps for wheelchair accessibility, and the main directions will be available in Braille.
